Model and actress, Kate Upton started the #ShareStrong social media campaign on both her Instagram and Twitter accounts earlier this month. The campaign was started in order to empower others to have open dialogue and conversation about challenges they face. The hashtag campaign is especially focussed on creating an environment where individuals, and women in particular, are comfortable and willing to share their stories of adversity.
Over the course of her modeling and acting careers, Kate has made sure she has had time to devote to different philanthropic causes, her new social media campaign is just the latest development in a long line of activism and charitable work. In 2013, Kate partnered with Gillette to promote the famed Movemeber, the effort that encourages men to grow out their facial hair for the entirety of November in order to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer.
As a child, Kate was bullied for her looks. This encouraged her to not only start her modeling career but also the #ShareStrong campaign. By starting this campaign Kate is motivating everyone to love themselves for who they are and empowering them to stay strong in the face of adversity.
The #ShareStrong campaign has already achieved much success and publicity in the few weeks since its inception. It already has 1000 plus posts featuring the hashtag on Instagram alone, the initiative has become particularly popular among the female audience. The campaign’s following features the likes of fellow philanthropist and celebrity, Jessica Biel. Jessica has been involved in dozens of charities and philanthropic organizations including Stand up to Cancer and What A Pair, so her involvement comes as no surprise.
With the early popularity of the social media initiative, it has already reached millions of people worldwide. Given this success, look for a corporate sponsor to become involved with Kate, supporting a great cause and fortifying a strong public reputation.
